Latifah Maasarani is a BME Ph.D. student working in the Biomedical Optics Lab. In 2021, she graduated with her Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in biomedical imaging and biophotonics from Duke University. She previously graduated with honors from CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics, at the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Photonic Science and Engineering. Her current research is on the development of a tomographic phase microscopy system for phase imaging optically thick samples. Latifah remains active in community service, leadership, and equity & diversity initiatives. She currently serves on SPIE’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee as well as the Early Career and Student committee.
